Teaching and Outreach
Science Blog
I have a science blog at The Oyster's Garter. My husband, Eric Wolff, and I blog about science-y things that interest us. Past topics include the North Pacific Trash Heap, fish in space, ocean fertilization, and zombies.
Invertebrate Zoology Instructor
This summer, I will be co-teaching A Hands-On Introduction to the Marine Invertebrates, a summer class for high school students through UCSD's Academic Connections program.
Species ID Club
I am the organizer of Species ID Club at SIO, which is a group that invites a speaker each month to present on a particular taxon. Our goal is to learn the basics of identifying species in that group, see local species if possible, and pick up some natural history. Some examples of past topics include cetaceans, myctophids, corals and polychaetes.
Aquarium Volunteer
I volunteer as a tidepool interpreter at the Birch Aquarium. I like sharing my love of the slimy and weird (along with the pretty and rare.)
Photography
Check out my underwater photos of the kelp forest. (Pt Loma, San Diego, CA).
